First year Furniture Studio Associate Ivana Taylor has been working collaboratively with artists from the APY Art Centre Collective’s Adelaide Studio on a range of sustainable products made from recycled and repurposed textiles and yarns. APY artists specialise in a range of mediums including painting, traditional punu (wood) carving, weaving, textiles, new media and digital photography. These workshops aim to introduce new forms of weaving, in addition to knotting, coiling and natural dyeing. The new APY Studio in Adelaide is a space where artists can work together and learn new skills while in Adelaide to access medical treatment and other services. Taylor has been working with the artists to apply new weaving techniques to portable projects that can be made in the studio or at home, allowing workshop participants to pass on new-found skills to others.
