News... Natural Landscapes
This year, Metal Studio alumni Antonia Field and Danielle Lo embarked on separate self-initiated residencies to work with renowned Japanese-born metalwork artist Junko Mori at her home studio in northern Wales. Located in the remote coastal region of the Llyn Peninsular, the residency immersed both artists in the rich natural landscape that informs and inspires Junko’s practice. During the course of their respective residencies, Antonia and Danielle were given the opportunity to learn the different methods of metal manipulation Junko Mori uses in her practice, including forging, welding and blacksmithing, as well as gaining insight into how the internationally acclaimed artist runs her studio space.
