Head of Furniture Studio

$86,000 - $90,000 pro rata

JamFactory is seeking a dynamic Studio Head to lead the training and business operations of our Furniture Studio.

The successful applicant will provide mentorship for studio Associates and management of the studio's operations. The position requires an excellent knowledge of contemporary furniture design and making practice and applicants should have well developed craft, design and communication skills as well as relevant studio, organisational and budget management experience.

The person in this position will: 

• Provide leadership and deliver a career development program for Associates that imparts the aesthetic, conceptual and business skills required to be a successful designer/maker; 

• Direct and manage an appropriate mix of Studio business activities to achieve revenue targets, contribute to training outcomes, and raise profile for the Studio; 

• Lead the Studio in supporting JamFactory’s Exhibitions program through the design and fabrication of display furniture, temporary structures and crating systems; 

• Manage the budget, personnel and administration of the Studio
