CRAFT AND DESIGN STUDIO SPACE AVAILABLE IN THE BAROSSA

Expressions of Interest

JamFactory is seeking Expressions of Interest from professional crafts-based artists, designers or businesses who would like to lease open studio space in JamFactory’s facility at the Seppeltsfield Winery in the Barossa Valley.

Since 2013, JamFactory’s studios at Seppeltsfield have provided space for artisans to make work and directly engage with the visiting public. In July 2024, JamFactory plans to reconfigure the main studio space – the historic 1851 Seppeltsfield stables – to create between four and six separately tenanted studio spaces of between 25 and 40 square meters each.

The studio spaces can be used by tenants 24/7 and are accessible to the public from 11am to 5pm daily. Tenants are required to provide their own tools and equipment, including point of sale (EFTPOS) mechanism, and are able to sell work they have made directly to the public.

Expressions of Interest (EOIs) should include a proposal of no more than one page outlining what you plan to do in the studio, a current CV and 6 – 10 images of the work/products that are indicative of what you plan to produce in the studio.

EOIs or any questions should be sent to Essie Kruckemeyer, Executive Assistant by email essie.kruckemeyer@jamfactory.com.au

Expressions of interest close at 5pm on Sunday 14 April 2024.

FAQ

How will my EOI be assessed?

EOIs will be considered by an Assessment Panel consisting of JamFactory CEO, General Manager and Manager – Seppeltsfield.

What kind of tenants will be successful?

JamFactory is seeking to curate a dynamic mix of tenants, with a mix of artforms/media from emerging or established artists. The selection process will prioritise the quality of work and capacity to provide a high standard of products for sale, as well as the activation of the space.

When will outcomes of the EOI process be notified?

We are aiming to let all applicants know the outcome by 1 May 2024.

What is the timeline for the Studio Leases?

Successful applicants will be offered an initial 12 month lease, with tenancies starting from August/September and subject to an annual renewal process.

Do I need to be working in the Space full-time?

To ensure the Studios are populated during public opening times, the Lease will specify a minimum attendance of 3-4 days. We encourage tenants to work collegiately to ensure the activation of the Studios.

What does accessible to the public mean?

General Public have the option to visit studios between 11am – 5pm, 7 days a week to view artists in action, meet the makers and buy direct from the artisan businesses housed within the independent studios. Please note studios are closed all major public holidays.
