Highlighting the importance of integrating craft and design into the practice of Williams Burton Leopardi (WBL), the Makers Mark Award grants UniSA Interior Architecture students the opportunity to expand their industry network, develop an appreciation for the process of 'making' and be mentored directly by WBL outside of their allocated studio time.

JamFactory is pleased to announce interior architecture student, Hannah Mumford, as the 2024 recipient of the UniSA x WBL Makers Mark Award. Taking form of 2 x $800 JamFactory Short Course Vouchers, the award enables students to gain practical experience, build core connections and gain an appreciation of the handmade across our furniture, glass, ceramics and jewellery/metal studios.

“The integration of craft within my studies will offer me a more elaborate learning experience. From material knowledge and tactile sensibility to detail orientation, sustainability considerations, and communication skills, this opportunity would enrich my educational journey” says Hannah Mumford.

Hannah was chosen from a selection of three shortlisted applicants for an alignment with the underpinning principles of the WBL studio.

Sophia (Leopardi), director of Williams Burton Leopardi says:

“David (Burton) and I both enjoyed meeting the students, and were really impressed with them all. Whilst we would have loved to have given all three (shortlisted applicants) the opportunity, we felt Hannah was particularly well placed in her development to uptake, grow, and have that potential “step change” we’d love to see come out from the experience. We are so happy to be able to support the program that has been instrumental in the foundations of our team, brand and business and we are excited to see how it evolves over the coming years.”

JamFactory would like to thank all of the students who applied, and in particular to the other shortlisted students; Claudia Human and Laura Pirone.
