Lush: South Australian Botanicals

South Australia has a vast and unique landscape with many pockets of lush native botanicals. Surviving after almost two centuries of extensive farming and the effects of climate change and introduced species, the majority of the state’s native plants now grow in a modified environment. This exhibition showcases contemporary craft practitioners’ responses to the rare and unusual beauty of native botanical plants across the South Australian landscape, with artists exploring form, shapes, colours, texture and, in some cases, their edibility and medicinal value. The works in this exhibition underscore the importance of caring for Country as well celebrating its diversity.

Exhibitors: Ayesha Aggarwal, Clare Belfrage, Julia Fernandes, Emma Franklin, Zoe Grigoris, Dominic Guerrera, Alex Hirst, Olivia Kathigitis, Sonya Rankine and Emma Young
