X KEULEMANS

An exhibition of creative works by South Australian designer, artist and researcher Guy Keulemans in collaboration with leading Australian designers. This is the third iteration in the biennial series of solo exhibitions presented by JamFactory in partnership with Adelaide University to highlight the artistic achievements and knowledge of key members of the creative faculty.

For many, the material world has never been more abundant, while planetary existence has never been more perilous. In the face of an interconnected crisis – waste, pollution, climate change and the unease of accelerating production and consumption – Keulemans and his collaborators ask, what is the role for design and craft? What is it that should be made, or remade? The works in this exhibition attempt to bring into the senses new aspirations for the manufactured world. Themes of transformative repair, localism and collaboration explore the agency in studio practice. The collaborations are signified by the X in the title; a symbol of a multiplying force for the consensus required to change material culture.

Presented as part of Adelaide Design Week
