Join internationally acclaimed silversmith Junko Mori for this 3-day workshop focussing on the meditative merit of repetitive actions.
Immerse yourself in Junko's unique creative process, participants will work from the initial development of concepts through drawing to some of the key skills Junko employs in her making. Junko will discuss some of the approaches she takes in the creative generation of ideas and forms illustrated through visuals of previous projects and real examples of work. Participants will then be introduced to some of Junko’s bespoke technical methods and will work through to a creative and self-directed outcome.
CONTENT: Techniques demonstrated and taught will include hammering, cold forging and TIG welding.
MATERIALS: All materials will be provided.
Participants may choose to supply some of their own materials such as silver rods and bring in any hammers they might have.
OUTCOMES: Understanding the idea of meditative merit on repetitive making process and also working without preconceived design. Participants will also produce a small copper work.
PREREQUISITES: This workshop would best suit a creative practitioner with at least an intermediate knowledge of metal works.
