Marrickville Council Local and National Artists' Residency Program
May/June
Erin Keys
This program is an exciting opportunity for artists working across all art forms. Open to local, regional and interstate artists; the residency program provides professional development opportunities for artists while promoting cultural understanding and development in communities.
This is an independently organised artist residency through Marrickville Council, Sydney. Erin has received financial assistance from Arts SA.
“I am looking at documenting mark making in the urban setting, specifically i will be mapping the region of Marrickville, Sydney. I will be exploring mark making that involves the body, the space that the body moves through and the space that makes its mark on the body. I will be looking at this both as observer and maker, documenting this through writing and photography.
I will be providing a talk at Enmore Design Centre to Staff, Students and any interested folk on the 27th May 12pm.
This residency is an opportunity to experience new ways of working and honing ideas within my own practice and will be a valuable experience to bring back to my final year as an Associate at the JamFactory. Furthermore it will allow me to research my project as well as provide the time and space to consolidate many of the techniques and ideas that i have been working on this past year. This is a significant professional development opportunity that offers me experience in a broad range of areas, including the development of project management skills, strategies towards public outcomes and curatorial/ exhibition skills. The experience gained through this residency will enable me to undertake a wide range of arts projects and further inform the conceptual underpinnings of my jewellery practice.”
