JamFactory exists to assist, train, guide, challenge, empower and promote craft practitioners. Since its establishment as a visionary initiative of the Dunstan Government in 1974, JamFactory has remained Australia's foremost centre for the development of craft and design.
JamFactory has supported and helped launch the careers and work of many of Australia's leading craft practitioners.
Its internationally recognised studios, galleries and shops remain influential and inspirational centres for the crafts in Australia.
Its name derives from the factory premises in which it was originally housed.
In 1991 JamFactory relocated to a centrally located purpose-built facility at the Lion Arts Centre, a site shared with several other leading organisations including Craftsouth and the Experimental Art Foundation.
In 2006 JamFactory celebrated a record year of achievement, receiving the inaugural Dame Ruby Litchfield Award for Sustained Contribution to the Arts as it entered its 33rd year of operation. |
