   Italian Centre Design Award
With Italy's reputation as a design leader in mind, JamFactory Centre for Contemporary Craft and Design has joined the Italian Centre and the Italian Chamber of Commerce to establish the annual “Italian Centre Design Award, commencing in 2006.

The award celebrates and recognises the creative ability of JamFactory’s young associate designers and promotes awareness of Italian culture and design.

The award takes the form of a design competition open to 1st and 2nd year associate designers from all studios.  Each associate designer is asked to design and create a new one-off object or production item that responds to a design brief linking South Australia and Italian culture.

The winner will have the opportunity to travel to Italy to a destination of their choice for a short and intensive practical experience of craft and design ‘Italiano’ style.   As part of their application each associate will outline their proposed focus for a craft and design research activity that they would like to undertake in Italy in order to develop and enrich their own professional practice.
