KURU ALALA Eyes Open

This award winning touring exhibition showcases artwork generated as a result of an extensive residency and workshop program with Tjanpi Desert Weavers initiated by the Gold Coast City Art Gallery during 2008/2009.

Maria Fernanda Cardoso, Alison Clouston and the Tjanpi Desert Weavers have collabotated on the development of this exhibition with the aim of stimulating greater awareness and insight into concepts of culture, country and community.

Djigabina Muddi Muddi (The Djigabina Follows)

This exhibition from the Girrungun Aboriginal Corporation from Cardwell, North Queensland features the Bagu and Jiman works based on the traditional fire making implements of the Girrungun rainforest Aboriginal people. The artists create artwork from clay, timber and string to evoke the spirit of the old people.
